The 140 mile Route

week 1

Mark has been busy on the exercise bike with three sessions already ! he also has clocked up the miles on his MTB with a cold and wet 25 miles

Chris has mostly been thinking " i really should start training " and with that in mind did two three mile runs .

week 2

Mark is racing ahead with the training incorporating a heart rate monitor and working hard on the exercise bike , Chris did another two runs this time uping the pace but keeping the mileage the same .

Both riders did a very wet and very very cold 25/27 miles on the training bikes Mark on his mtb with nice new tyres and Chris on his hybrid , the wind tried its best to break both but the smiles remained till the very end ,  hot drinks later both riders recovered quickly .

week 3

the guys are taking on the mighty cuckoo hill as part of a 50 mile training cycle

Mark has again been hitting the exercise bike while chris has clocked up a total of 90 road miles this week .

week 4

this week has seen very high winds which has tried its best to hinder the guys efforts ! chris and mark pushed on regardless. two road sessions for chris and one off road session , mark joined chris for a road ride and continued his indoor sessions on the exercise bike . another good week of training .

week 5

Mark has been hard at work this week on the exercise bike , combined with the exercise and following a heathy diet he's seen a good reduction in weight (not that he needed a diet ). Chris has had an easy week with only a few road miles but later joined mark for a good 50 mile cycle (with 3500ft assent )  .both riders are well on the way to getting on shape for the journey that awaits them !

week 6

this week seen mark out on the road bike and indoor exercise bike with a weight session as well thrown in , chris did more road miles this week with a total just over 100 miles done in some very strong head winds .

Week 7

Mark had a good training week with indoor exercise bike sessions and road rides saturday and sunday . chris suffered from the dreaded nuro virus this week and found himself to unwell to participate in any form of exercise , he will return to training next week .

week 8

both riders are now suffering from the dreaded virus , but that didn't stop them from doing a 60 mile ride on sunday (with a few near vomit moments)

week 9

A 60 mile cycle that included a trip to belvour castle was the training for the boys this week , hale stones , strong winds and rain are becoming a weekly challenge for the guys .

week 10

a visit to a section of the c2c course was the chosen training this week , but gail force winds and strong persistent rain put a stop to the 50 planned miles , the guys learned a lot from the visit to the area .

week11

more hills this week and 60 miles done , lots of head winds but lots of fun .

week 12

A monster 80 mile course was chosen and was a challenge ! hills and lots of them

week 13

An easier week than most was in store for the guys with lower mileage than normal , but great fun along the way

week 14

60 miles done and some great countryside to boot , both enjoying the climbs of south rutland !

week 15

another 60 miles in the saddle this week with the best weather seen so far , made a real change to have the sun on our backs .
